A Wonderful Route 66 Stay – Highly Recommended!
We spent the night at the Roadway Inn in Barstow on 19th October 2026 and were absolutely delighted with our experience.
We arrived a little early, and the lovely lady on reception very kindly allowed us to check in ahead of time, which we really appreciated. Our room was incredibly spacious, fresh, spotlessly clean and exceptionally comfortable. This is a lovely retro-style motel on historic Route 66 that has clearly stood the test of time while being well cared for and much loved.
The enormous bed, complete with four pillows, was wonderfully comfortable. The room had everything we needed, including a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer, good-sized television, excellent Wi-Fi, plenty of hanging space and a separate vanity area. The complimentary toiletries, plentiful towels and excellent shower, with lovely hot water and great pressure, were all appreciated.
Breakfast was another highlight, with waffles, breads, croissants, bagels, cereals, boiled eggs, juices, and tea and coffee. Freshly cooked eggs or omelettes were also available if ordered before 8:30 am. An excellent breakfast included in the price!
What really stood out was the attention to detail throughout. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, and it was clear that the owners genuinely care about their guests.
We would happily stay here again and highly recommend the Roadway Inn to anyone travelling along Route 66!

Not much to be honest. I suppose you get what you pay for at $89
On arrival the lady was unfriendly just asked our name, upstairs or downstairs and that was it. Never explained anything about breakfast, check out, area or facilities. We were awoken at 4:30am by loud banging and clanking which went on intermittently until we left at 8am.
When I checked out the man cooking breakfast just nodded for me to put the card in a box. He never mention ‘do you want breakfast’ there was no thank you or chit chat. We didn’t stay for breakfast after seeing some people eating off paper plates and the depressing room. How this place is 5 star I will never know.
As for Barstow generally, sadly it is a depressing and run down town. Will not be returning
