Staff were nice; the rooms were clean and sizable; beds were comfortable, and the pool and hot tub were good. The motel was quiet. Our request for no cleaning services and privacy was respected, and our requests for clean towels, etc. were met by staff. The free breakfast was good, although a better variety of foods would have been better.
I would have liked a better variety of breakfast foods. The eating area was small, and had to wait to sit down to eat. There was not a staff member in the breakfast area at all times, often had to ask for items that had run out. There wasn't staff available to answer questions such as how to use the waffle maker, etc.. There was no staff to clean off tables or to wipe them down between guests eating; we had to do this ourselves. The motel could not provide maps of the island and beaches, and some staff were not knowledgeable about the island and were not able to provide directions. This information should have been available, and staff should have been more knowledgeable to assist with questions. The motel did not have any information regarding Island Metro or how to get around on the island. This information and staff who could answer questions would have made our week-long visit easier and more enjoyable. The last night of our stay, we needed a good night's sleep as we had an early flight home in the morning. At 4 a.m., our smoke alarm started beeping loudly. As we were unable to sleep, we went to the front desk to inform them of the problem. We were told that there was no maintenance available until morning (is there not maintenance on call at all times?) We were given a folding chair and directed to remove the alarm from the ceiling and just remove the battery. We did as directed, which did not do anything as the alarm was hardwired; the battery was only there for backup in the event of power failure. We were then told there was nothing they could do until maintenance arrived in the morning. We were not offered another room so that we could get some more sleep. All of these problems really decreased our satisfaction with the motel, and we will not stay there again.
