The location couldn't be better: it is exactly in front of the sea; you just cross the street and you're on the beach. By the way, the sunset at Cambria's beach is just a priceless experience.
The room was huge with a fantastic setup: two showers in the stall, a fireplace with wall-mounted temperature control, king-size bed, Starbucks coffee, etc. But what impressed us most was the care and support from the front desk staff, especially Irma. We urgently needed to get to the SLO Amtrak station and couldn’t find a rideshare, so she promptly helped by calling drivers and taxi contacts she knew until she found someone available to take us. Irma saved our train and the rest of our trip — thank you so much!!”
Nothing related to the hotel, but with Cambria itself: if you're not by car, it gets very difficult to move from the hotel to the West and East Villages - where the "town" really is. Especially, because it's almost impossible to get Uber/Lyft rides there and the villages are not walking distance.

The price was very good for an ocean view room. The landscaping looks nice. The room was clean but not well maintained as far as mechanical things.
Breakfast isn't much but wasn't expecting anything so no complaint there. The room had a great view but that was it. The bathroom fan made too much noise to use, the fireplace is the only heat in the room and it didn't work (we didn't need it luckily). and the bed was so soft that it gave me a sore back. I know some people like a soft bed; I do not. The office seemed poorly staffed and I was surprised that when their coffee machine broke they just didn't have coffee. Most places would do what is needed to provide coffee, not just say "sorry" no coffee, machine is broke. That's about it. We have stayed at many places over the 44 years that we have been going to Cambria and Pelican has been the biggest disappointment.

Friendly staff, great wine options from nearby vineyard, large rooms and good parking.
Rooms need a bit of an upgrade but overall we’re fine. Hot tub was closed which was a shame.

Location was great, right on the sea front and walkable to a few restaurants. The rooms were good size and clean.
A few days prior I had received a link via email to check in but it didn’t work, so I messaged via booking.com saying the link isn’t working but will arrive after 17:30. When we got to the hotel around 18:30 after a full day of travel, we walked towards the lobby where a staff member was locking up the front door and walked away from us leaving a note saying will be back in 45 minutes and there’ll be no staff during that time. So we were unable to check in to our hotel until after 19:15. It’s frustrating as I don’t believe 18:30 is an unreasonable time to check in and there should be staff there during this time. The man locking up also would have seen us approaching with our cases and could have explained the situation. I was disappointed that we had to linger for 45 minutes so went to dinner but would have liked to have showered after a long day of travel.
