Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Chesapeake Suffolk

The location is excellent for my needs - right next to the I-664 loop. The hotel is clean and modern. I only stay in places that provide a complimentary breakfast and this place's breakfast is better than what other nearby hotels I've stayed in provide. I appreciate the availability of a larger room that has its own sitting area separate from the bedroom. The staff were all friendly, check-in was quick and efficient. Even the people tending the breakfast area had a friendly 'good morning' each day when I showed up for breakfast. Parking is plentiful and easy. There are many nearby stores and restaurants (even a few within walking distance).

I think this is a problem for hotels in general, but it is annoying to ALWAYS find an assortment of minor maintenance needs in the room. From the room door that sticks, to the insufficient lighting, to the bathroom door that has whacked the shower rod so many times it is dented, to the lack of a stopper in the bathroom sink, to the ring around the shower water control that has been installed upside down..... For once - just ONCE - I'd love to stay in a hotel and at the end of my stay I say to myself "the room was perfect". Sadly this place has a ways to go. Nothing that will prevent me from coming back and staying again (I've stayed at this place many times over the decades) but come on... get better maintenance people who take a little pride in their work. Some type of perfume hits you in the nose the moment you walk thru the front door - it's too much and makes me wonder what happened there that was so awfully smelly that you are now trying to hide it? The heating/AC unit in the room is too noisy. The electrical outlet behind the coffee maker has melted - it is so deformed that nothing can be plugged into it. The lighting in the coffee area is so bad that you cannot see what you are doing - even if the electrical outlet had been usable I would have moved the coffee maker to the bathroom just so that I could see what I was doing. The USB outlets in the clock by the bed would have been nice to use to charge my phone at night but both USB outlets were broken.

Convenient location. Beds were comfortable and tv upgrade was good. Towels nice . Staff was friendly

Bathroom shower/tub still needs to be updated. But clean otherwise

Noise from guest upstairs running around and noisy could not sleep they ran stomping floor at 0400 in the morning staff said there was no other room

Tried to charge me more then what it should’ve been.
