Sand Dollar Inn

Everything was lovely. Check in was friendly & easy, parking was plentiful, room was very nicely renovated for a motel. Ice machine works & mini fridge had a dedicated freezer that actually works- a rare treat for a motel!! That small detail randomly helped my trip improve a lot actually.

Only issue I had was the shower drain for the room. It was a handicap accessible room and there is a shower drain in the middle of the bathroom since there's no tub or lip holding water in the shower. Unfortunately the floor isn't sloped so water actually drains- all the water went around the drain in the middle of the room and made deep puddles under the sink and around the toilet like a moat. I was using all the towels I had and still couldn't soak up all the water. I understand it's an expensive thing to fix the whole flooring but at least provide a squeegee on a stick so people can push the water UP into the drain in the middle of the room. This will help you too since all this excess water must be damaging and causing mold issues on and behind the baseboards. Long term, this needs a real repair.

Clean and updated room, the clothes washer and dryer a welcomed surprise amenity I needed so was perfect, adequate parking on site. My situation was not vacation, was a needed place to stay as I moved out of a long term residence and heading into retirement.

No complaints.

Basic affordable hotel - clean and comfortable!! The location was great with tons of restaurants and stores nearby and just 10 minutes from Monterey! Not a luxury hotel at all but 10/10 would stay here for a short time. Great value!!
