Sonesta Suites Scottsdale Gainey Ranch

The property was beautiful, and the courtyard looked exactly like the pictures. The pool was lovely, and I particularly enjoyed having the outdoor area entirely to myself. The hot tub was relaxing, although it could have used a little additional cleaning. My suite was incredibly spacious, including the bedroom, well stocked, and comfortable. I slept extremely well. I also appreciated the happy hour between 5 and 6 p.m. The homemade potato chips with artichoke dip were absolutely fantastic, and the wine was good. The bartender was exceptional! He was friendly, professional, and genuinely enjoyable to talk to. The evening food prices were reasonable, and parking was included.

Unfortunately, the check-in experience was disappointing. I arrived at 3:37 p.m. and was informed that check-in was at 4 p.m. I completely understood and was told I would receive a call when my room was ready. However, by 4:09 p.m., I still hadn’t received a call, an update, or an apology. When I approached reception, I was simply told my room was ready. Nothing was properly explained during check-in. The receptionist circled room 244 on my map and verbally confirmed it, but my actual room was 224. After dragging my suitcase across the second-floor carpet, I discovered the mistake and had to walk back. Inside the suite, one dresser drawer wouldn’t stay closed, and the courtyard view was nothing special. I also found it unnecessary to charge $5 per bottle of water. At this price point, two complimentary bottles would be a reasonable gesture. My biggest concern was the food. The vegetables served during happy hour did not appear fresh, particularly the cherry tomatoes and celery. Later that evening, I ordered a quesadilla, which tasted fine at the time. Unfortunately, I woke up extremely sick the following morning and had to cancel my planned activities. The happy hour food and quesadilla were the only things I had eaten that entire day, and I had felt completely fine throughout the previous days of my trip. Although I cannot medically confirm the cause, the timing and the condition of the vegetables raised serious concerns about the food quality.

This was our first time staying at Sonesta Suites and we enjoyed it quite a bit. The room was nice and big with a view of the courtyard and the bed was very comfortable. It's also always nice having a full-size fridge and freezer, which we utilized.

There were a few things that would've made the stay a little better: 1.) We were told housekeeping would stop by between 8-11am to take out trash, make the bed, replace any towels if needed, etc. but we never saw them. 2.) The shower leaked a little bit leaving an almost constant puddle near the toilet and soaking the floor towel. 3.) We got a drink at the courtyard bar and the bartender was kind of rude, almost like he was upset we showed up. Thankfully the drink he made was really good!

Super comfortable bed, lovely big room. Very clean. Pool was great. Parking was easy. Loved the easy exit to the car park from the elevators without going through reception every time. Great breakfast.

Only that breakfast could've been on until 10am instead of just 7-9am

We needed a later checkout but were denied due to being at "max capacity". After offering to pay, our later checkout was accepted. We also had to pay extra for WIFI. We do a lot of traveling and we never had to pay an extra charge to use WIFI.
