A house with history—and personal hospitality
Part of the villa dates back to the early 20th century. Our family has restored the property with great care, preserving its original character.
The olive grove is also part of our family history: replanted tree by tree, it still provides the olives for our own olive oil today. We make our limoncello from the lemons that grow on the terrace. We’d like to share this connection to the house and the region with our guests.
With us, you can easily plan your stay in German. As a German host, I’m happy to answer your questions about the apartment, how to get here, and Cassino—both before you book and during your stay. I’m also happy to give you personal recommendations for restaurants and excursions.
Cassino: History, Everyday Italian Life, and an Ideal Starting Point
Cassino is located in southern Lazio, between Rome and Naples. Here you’ll experience an Italy where everyday life sets the pace: a coffee at the bar, regional cuisine, small shops, and the landscape between the mountains and the sea.
Towering above the city is the famous Abbey of Montecassino, whose history dates back to its founding by St. Benedict in 529. The events of 1944 also made Cassino a significant site in European history. Today, the rebuilt abbey and the historic memorial sites invite you to discover this special place.
The location is perfect for combining relaxation with a variety of excursions:
• Montecassino: Visit the abbey, which you can already see from your terrace.
• Gaeta and Sperlonga: Discover beaches, picturesque old towns, and seafood restaurants—about an hour’s drive away, depending on your destination.
• Naples: Lively alleys, art, Neapolitan pizza, and the famous coffee culture await you on a day trip.
• Pompeii: You can reach this impressive ancient city in about 1¼ to 1½ hours.
• Rome: Plan a full day to explore the sights and neighborhoods of the Eternal City; by car, expect the trip to take about 1½ to 2 hours, depending on your destination and traffic.
• The mountains and national parks of Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise: Ideal for hiking, nature experiences, and excursions to small mountain villages.
• The Amalfi Coast: A worthwhile extended day trip; depending on the coastal town and traffic, allow about 2½ to 3 hours each way.
All travel times are approximate and depend on traffic and your specific destination.
Easily accessible from Germany
The best airports for your trip are Naples-Capodichino, Rome-Ciampino, and Rome-Fiumicino.
By rental car, you can reach Cassino from Naples in about an hour, from Rome-Ciampino in about 1¼ to 1½ hours, and from Rome-Fiumicino in about 1½ to 2 hours. A car is especially recommended if you want to explore the coast, mountain towns, and other attractions at your own pace.
