Nightmare Stay
Location was great and property was very spacious and located on ground floor with a good garden. Good comfortable beds.
Cleanliness and Cockroach infestation in kitchen and one of the bedrooms!!
Before my arrival in Egypt, one of my Egyptian friend had inspected the property on my behalf. The lack of cleanliness was high lighted, even though the host (Ahmed) promised to get the property cleaned up, it had not been done apart from the gas hob which was semi-cleaned.
On our arrival, the property was not clean and bedsheets/pillow cases were dirty, curtains were being used as cover sheets on beds! Kitchen work surfaces/ sink were sticky with oil residue. Cupboards were also dirty as was fridge and microwave. Microwave did not work. Air conditioning in one of the bedroom did not work. Lots of clutter in the kitchen with some cooked food/ pickles in 2 pots!! We were promised that a cleaner would come next day but despite waiting no one showed up. We cleaned up what we needed to for our benefit.
Ahmed did not speak any English but seemed friendly at first but later found him to be threatening, NOT A GOOD HOST!! After the initial period we wanted to book an extra night. Ahmed gave us a high price and wouldn't match Booking.com price so I booked through Booking.com as the property was available. He wasn't happy with this and threatened to come into the property in our absence to throw out our belongings. Also threatened to cancel our booking for this extra night. My Egyptian friend rang him and warned him that if he did this we would complain to the Tourist Police. Ahmed did not carry out his threats after this.
This property would be great if it was properly cleaned/ maintained and the host was more professional. Potentially a 5 star rating!!
