A private house in Layan, built around an art collection. Six bedrooms, a 12 m pool with a sunken lounge, and a walled tropical garden that belongs to you alone.

Villa Mumu is named after my late mother. I am an art advisor, and I built it as the house I would want my own family to stay in.

ARRIVING – A quiet lane in Layan, north-west Phuket. Phuket airport 17 minutes; Banana Beach 4 minutes, Layan Beach 5, Sirinat National Park beach 900 m.

THE POOL AND GARDEN – 12 x 6 m private pool with a sunken lounge and in-water sunbeds. A separate jacuzzi. Flat walled garden of about 1,300 m², a covered sala for long lunches. Pool and jacuzzi open 24 hours.

THE HOUSE – About 780 m² of living space. Double-height living room open to the pool. Floating stairs, stone and onyx walls, black marble. Works from my own collection: Invader, Hom Nguyen, Jisbar, Kostar, Chloe Kelly Miller. Two fully equipped kitchens, one indoors, one in the BBQ pavilion.

BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS – Five suites plus a cinema room that becomes a sixth bedroom. Up to 12 guests. Five bathrooms in black marble and terrazzo. Bed linen from the Thai workshops that supply Four Seasons Hotels.

FOR FAMILIES – Cinema room, gym, Wi-Fi in every room, 7 Samsung TVs, washing machine and dryer. Baby cot and extra bed free on request.

LOOKED AFTER – Housekeeper Monday to Saturday, 9:00–18:00. Night security guard, 11 outdoor cameras. On request: private chef, driver, massage, babysitting, excursions.

GOOD TO KNOW – Electricity charged by meter. Refundable THB 50,000 deposit at check-in. Not beachfront, no sea view. Phuket, and Layan in particular, is growing quickly, with new villas and roadworks in the area. Depending on the day, you may hear some construction noise nearby during daytime hours.
