The Space:

Chromocamino is a vibrant, color-themed home built in 1978, with mid-century touches like a sunken conversation-style living room and a sprawling, maze-like layout. It sits in the Joshua tree-filled foothills of Yucca Valley's Country Club Estates, next to open land with BLM hiking trails down the street. The fenced backyard has an original pool and hot tub, a putting green, two fire pits and a cactus garden, and the garage is a game room. Four themed bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a curtained book nook and a den, sleep groups of up to ten. Hide in the book nook if Mrs. Pac-Man gets competitive.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The fenced backyard has the home's original mid-century pool, a hot tub, pool loungers and a poolside table for five next to the propane BBQ. There is a putting green, hammocks, cornhole, a gas fire pit and a wood fire pit, plus an outdoor shower, a covered patio yoga room, a desert mural and a cactus and native plant garden. Views stretch to the undeveloped, Joshua tree-filled foothills to the northwest, with a peek of the golf course to the southeast.



-Living Area-

A sunken conversation-style living room greets you at the door, and the open front of the house has plenty of windows facing the foothills. There is a main living room with two couches, an open den with a futon and a curtained book nook with a twin bed for quiet reading. A work desk is set up away from the front of the house. The garage game room has a Mrs. Pac-Man tabletop arcade, a pool table, a dartboard and board games.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The well-stocked kitchen has what you need for home-cooked meals and drinks, with spices and a small supply of coffee, creamer and sugar. The indoor dining table seats six, with a peek of the golf course, and is open to the kitchen and living room. The poolside table seats five.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Chromocamino has four themed bedrooms and three bathrooms: the primary suite with a king bed, the Mid-Mod Flamingo Pink room with a California king, the Avocado Desert Green room with a queen and the California Poppy Orange room with a queen. A semi-private curtained book nook has a twin bed, and the den has a futon.



-Surrounding Area-

Hawk's Landing Golf Course and Roost Cafe, the Boom trailhead, the Snakebite Roadhouse and BLM hiking trails are the easy outings from Chromocamino. Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown, the town of Joshua Tree and the national park entrance fill out the map.



Guest Access:

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.



A digital lock code specific to your reservation will be active during your stay; a physical key is available if needed. Please note that two closets (one in the hallway and one near the primary bedroom) and an outdoor utility closet are locked and hold maintenance supplies.



The Neighborhood:

Chromocamino is in the Country Club Estates of Yucca Valley, a quiet residential neighborhood in the foothills across from acres of undeveloped land, with easy access to the highway. Public transit is within walking distance. Hawk's Landing Golf Course and Roost Cafe, the Boom trailhead and the Snakebite Roadhouse are a couple of minutes away, and BLM hiking trails are less than a mile away.

Public transit is available but limited. Uber and Lyft operate in the area, and taxi service is available through Desert Sun Cab or Lucky 777 (numbers in the guidebook).
