Worst experience: false advertising, water leak, and ignored refund requests

Nothing

When I booked, the property was listed as El Manantial Suites — an entire studio apartment with a kitchen, dining table and island, large sofa and double bed, clearly advertised as “the entire place is yours.” The photos matched that description. On arrival we were given a tiny box room with just a bed and bedside table. The common area was shared with four other rooms (five rooms total), meaning potentially 10+ people sharing just two bathrooms when fully booked, and there was no kitchen or any of the features shown in the photos, only a room and bathrooms. After we checked in, we discovered the listing name had been changed to Rooms El Manantial and all the original photos had been replaced with pictures of the actual rooms we were put in. The property’s customer service was completely uncooperative. They repeatedly said “no cancellation” despite the clear misrepresentation and refused to help. Booking.com gave the property a 24-hour window to respond to the refund request. That deadline passed, they were given another 24 hours, and more than a week later there has still been zero response from the property or meaningful action from Booking.com. The issue remains unresolved. To make it worse, while on the phone dealing with both the property and Booking.com, water started flooding the bathroom, the corridor, and into our room. It was leaking from the ceiling and continued for over an hour. An employee who came to fix it offered either a full refund or to move us into the actual studio apartment (he confirmed it exists and even showed us photos that matched what we had originally booked). Yet he refused to put anything in writing. The next day I texted him for an update and he had blocked my number. The place was dirty. One bathroom door had a key lock but the key was missing, so you couldn’t lock the door while showering. I paid over €100 per night; other guests in similar rooms next door paid around €50. The price did not match what we received.

Encantada!!!
