The Surroundings
Our Moselnest is located in the tranquil Moselle village of Burgen.
As the last house on a riverside street, you can enjoy an unparalleled panoramic view.
In addition to a café serving fresh pastries and cakes, there are many different restaurants. In addition to two pizzerias and a Greek restaurant, the town features restaurants serving traditional home-style cuisine and, of course, various wine bars where you can enjoy Moselle wine.
In the neighboring town of Treis-Karden, there is an outdoor pool, various restaurants, and shopping options, such as a supermarket.
The beautiful Moselle town of Cochem is only 20 minutes from Burgen and offers many cafés, restaurants, shopping options (supermarkets, drugstores, etc.), as well as an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Visit the Reichsburg Cochem and stroll through the picturesque alleys of Cochem’s old town. Many boat tours on the Moselle also depart from here.
You can also reach the towns of Beilstein, Bernkastel-Kues, and Traben-Trabach, or the most spectacular Moselle bend in Bremm, home to the Calmont—Europe’s steepest vineyard. The hike up the Calmont is only for experienced hikers, but it’s a real must-do with breathtaking views.
Above the town of Cochem lies Klotten Amusement Park, featuring a large wildlife enclosure and rides for all ages.
Or visit the beautiful and fully preserved Elz Castle, also about 25 minutes away. A lovely hiking trail (approx. 1–1.5 hours) leads through the Elzbach Valley starting from the nearby Moselle town of Moselkern.
The beautiful city of Koblenz, located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Middle Rhine Valley, is 30 kilometers away. There, you can take a leisurely stroll through the old town, visit the Deutsch Eck, or take the aerial cableway up to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and enjoy an unparalleled view of the Rhine and Moselle valleys from there.
