A few uncomfortable bumps, but overall a very large accommodation where the pros outweigh the cons.
The host was very responsive, and accommodated several requests (they purchased a toaster as there was not one already in the kitchen, and they made an exception to their no dog rule and allowed us to bring our small dog). The space was large with newer appliances (fridge, dishwasher, washer and dryer). Location is both good and bad. The good: once you do cross, it is less than a 10 minute walk to Halfmoon General, and an access to a small beach. This was a highlight! The bad: the property is directly off the Sunshine Coast highway, so going for walks in the area requires crossing a high speed road (not too dangerous, but a bit iffy), and the sound of cars can be heard from bedrooms throughout the night.
FYI about the layout: before visiting the space, we had no idea how large it actually is. The amount of space was more than we needed as a family of 3, and felt a bit uncomfortable as it is sparsely furnished. More info about the layout: The ground level included a large open-space entryway/dining room/sitting area/kitchen, a living room that can be closed off by 2 doors, one bedroom and two bathrooms. The upstairs is 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.
Also FYI about appliances: aside from the fridge, dishwasher, washer/dryer, there is a rice cooker, hot water dispenser, and now a toaster (that the host purchased as per our request). There is not a kettle or a coffee machine.
The information posted about the level of privacy was misleading. It would have been nice to know that this is a very large space, and the accommodation is the majority of a home, but not the whole place. There is a suite attached to the accommodation, accessed around the back of the house, but also through a door on the second level. As such, it does not feel completely private. Noise travels from that suite to the upstairs bedrooms. Fortunately, the host is responsive so when we messaged asking for quiet as we were going to sleep, they responded quickly and we heard no noise.
Overall, this place was not super comfortable. The beds were okay, but a plastic sheet under the sheets (some sort of mattress protector?) made the bed feel a bit hot and sticky. The second bedroom upstairs had a more uncomfortable bed, and the frame was squeaky.
A few minor challenges with appliances - the washer seemed to be stuck on hot water (clothes came out hot even when we changed it to the cold water setting), the TV in the living room downstairs was not easy to plug in (used an extension cord) and the TV in an upstairs room did not have volume control (so was too quiet as it was stuck at volume 9).
