A housekeeper came to our room at midnight demanding that we check out.
None
I had one of the most frightening accommodation experiences of my life. At midnight, a housekeeper came to our room and demanded that we check out.
We had booked this accommodation for five people through Booking.com. Since our flight was arriving early, we requested early check-in and agreed in advance to pay AUD 20 on-site rather than through Booking.com.
However, upon arrival, we were directed to Shore 1 Tower D, even though the listing stated Shore 2 Tower 2. The room number provided in the messages was also different from the actual room number, making it difficult to find.
**The room was completely different from the listing and photos.** We had booked a unit advertised with one queen-size bed, three sofa beds, and a dining table with six chairs. In reality, there was only one sofa bed and a tiny counter with three small chairs. There were only three pairs of slippers, and it was clear that the room was not properly equipped for five guests.
The owner explained that the original unit we had booked was unavailable because its air conditioner was broken. However, this did not change the fact that the replacement unit was substantially different from what we had booked.
There were numerous other issues. Parking was advertised as PHP 50 per day, but we were told it was actually PHP 50 per hour. The cooking pots were filthy and had to be washed thoroughly before use. The closet was locked and unusable, the drying rack was occupied by the owner's belongings, and we were warned about fines for failing to dispose of our own rubbish. The paid swimming pool apparently did not require a guest card.
When we complained that the room could not properly accommodate five people, the owner offered us another small room in an adjacent building. This meant splitting our group between two rooms, despite having booked together for five people. Walking between the buildings took more than ten minutes, which was inconvenient and disrupted our trip.
