Needs a lot of work!
The property had a couple of positives: all four bedrooms had at least a double bed, and the driveway was large enough for three cars. Pretty big house and a load of space for the money.
Unfortunately, the rest of our stay was disappointing. Finding the property was difficult as it is advertised as "Avondale Gardens" and the address sent says the hosue is called "whisters", however neither of these are the actual address, so when using google maps it has no idea where to take you. You then have an annoying gate to deal with to get to the drive way that is just off of a main busy road. Collecting the keys was a nightmare, as there was no lockbox or clear collection process. I had to call the owner, who explained that the keys had been hidden in the garden. Searching for them while looking after a four-year-old was an unnecessarily frustrating start to the stay.
The property also felt poorly maintained. An old oven and other rubbish had been left outside, while the conservatory was being used to store a pile of old mattresses. The downstairs toilet had no toilet seat, so we were unable to use it, and the upstairs bathroom had several missing tiles and no shower curtain. In my bedroom, the curtains were not large enough to cover the window properly.
Basic information was also difficult to obtain. The Wi-Fi password was not included in the information pack, so I had to contact the owner. After receiving no response to my messages for three hours, I eventually had to call.
In the kitchen we found half of a very mouldy onion sitting on a plate in a cupboard. Cleanliness throughout the rest of the house was average at best. The garden was so overgrown that it could not be used at all.
Although the property offers plenty of sleeping space and parking, it needs a thorough clean, significant maintenance and much better organisation and communication before I could recommend staying here.
