Cloud Trails Hostel was one of the best hostels that I have been to.
The peaceful atmosphere and the surroundings garden was so amazing.. you could see a beautiful sunrise just outside the hostel.. surrounded with wildlife and the calm nature if you love photography and calm and quietness this is the best place.. I booked for 1 night but ended up staying for 4days. The authentic Sri Lankan food that they have at the restaurant is amazing they also do some sri lankan cooking classes as well.. the hosts do their best to provide many activities and to keep your day busy the give you the best tips and activities to do around in ella.. I will surely visit again

I had a wonderful stay at Cloud Trails Hostel Ella! This place is perfect for travellers looking for comfort, privacy, and a peaceful atmosphere away from the busy town centre. The dorm beds are spacious and comfortable, with privacy curtains that make them feel almost like little private rooms. It's a great choice for solo travellers who want to meet other backpackers while still enjoying their own personal space.
The staff are absolutely wonderful, friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The breakfast is delicious, and I loved that they change the breakfast menu for guests staying longer, so there's always something different to enjoy.
One of the highlights was the authentic Sri Lankan food! The meals are tasty and feel homemade. Their Sri Lankan cooking classes are also a fantastic experience, giving you the chance to learn how to prepare traditional Sri Lankan dishes and discover the secrets behind the local flavours. It's a great way to experience Sri Lankan culture beyond the usual tourist activities.
The location is another big advantage for anyone who loves nature and peaceful surroundings. Although the hostel is a little away from the busy Ella town centre, public transport is available, making it easy to get into town. The Ella Rock hiking trail starting point, Kithal Ella Waterfall, and a nearby meditation centre make the area ideal for hiking, relaxing, and enjoying a quieter side of Ella. There are also nearby handmade tea tours, where you can discover traditional tea-making methods and experience Sri Lanka's wonderful tea culture.
After a day of hiking, exploring waterfalls, enjoying tea tours, or discovering local culture, returning to this comfortable and peaceful hostel feels amazing.
If you're looking for comfortable dorms with privacy, excellent hospitality, delicious Sri Lankan food, memorable cooking classes, and beautiful nature nearby, Cloud Trails Hostel Ella is definitely worth visiting!
