They require a security deposit and have a very bad reputation with regard to its refund

The apartment itself was perfectly fine. Nicely decorated, in a fantastic location, a bit noisy at night but with the windows shut and a fan on it was ok in September. The service via messaging was great - very prompt and helpful. If I was judging on the flat alone it would score 8 or 9.

After making a non-refundable booking I was asked for 400 Euros as a security deposit and told that if I didn't pay I would lose my booking but not get my money back. This is contrary to contract law and scandalous that booking.com allows this practice. I then checked the management company, BnBNova, out on TrustPilot and found a 1* score (the lowest possible) and lots of complaints, many of them about the difficultly of getting the security deposit refunded. There are further complaints on TripAdvisor and Reddit, including allegations that the company keeps changing it's name when it gets negative ratings. I pushed for my refund immediately after my stay and was told that policy is not to refund until after 14 days (I've no idea why this should be) but I did indeed get my refund after that time. Collecting keys was also a faff as you have to go to a launderette for pick up (and will be charged quite a lot if you are delayed as they have to keep the shop open for you!). Why can't they use a keybox at the property like everyone else on booking.com?

I had a nice stay here! The flat was well located, comfortable, and simple for a Paris trip. Everything went smoothly, and the host was easy to reach. I would recommend it!
