STAY RUINED for a NUMBER OF REASONS!
The location is good and the property has potential.
The view from the entrance was pleasant.
HOT TUB UNAVAILABLE: We booked specifically for the advertised hot tub, but it was empty, dirty and unusable. We were not informed beforehand, so had no opportunity to change our dates. No alternative was provided and the owner took no responsibility for failing to provide the advertised facility.
POOR COMMUNICATION: No welcome message or clear arrival instructions were provided. I had to contact the owner myself and initially ended up at the wrong property due to unclear directions.
PRIVACY CONCERNS: The property is overlooked by a neighbouring property, and we did not feel we had the level of privacy expected.
ACCUSATIONS DURING OUR STAY: Despite being informed of our plans beforehand, the owner repeatedly accused us of having additional guests and holding a party, although this was not the case. A family member seen on the Ring camera was simply dropping off his wife and baby before leaving.
NEW RULES DURING OUR STAY: We were told during our stay that cooking with large pans was not permitted on the large cooker. Fortunately, we had already prepared our food and brought it with us. We were also threatened with additional cleaning charges despite already paying a £200 cleaning fee through Booking.com.
CLEANLINESS CONCERNS: Men's clothing was left in the wardrobe, alcohol was in the fridge and food/crisps were left in cupboards. We also questioned whether the bedding had been freshly changed. The living room smelled stale and there were clusters of bugs around the bookcase.
VALUE FOR MONEY: We paid almost £1.5K for two nights, expecting the advertised facilities, privacy, cleanliness and a relaxing family experience. Had the property and service lived up to expectations, we would have been returning customers; sadly, we would never choose to do business with the owner again.
