The Cabin sits in the middle of a ten acre property adjacent to the Talladega National Forest, with easy access to the Pinhoti Trail. It is located eight miles traveling North outside of the small town of Heflin Alabama which is about an hour and a half outside of the metro areas of Birmingham Alabama and Atlanta Georgia. For example an easy, straightforward drive down I-20 West makes Turkey Track Retreat a perfect quick weekend getaway for Atlanta residents looking to escape the city noise.
The cabin is solar-powered and rain water is collected in a cistern for gray water uses. If you are looking for an off-grid cabin experience in a forest, and a quiet place to get away, this is the place for you. We loved our stay! The cabin is cozy. The back deck is beautiful and makes you feel like part of the forest. The front porch was nice and cool and great when we had rain. The owner Jim was very kind and helpful as was his property manager Nichole. The creek was perfect for walking thru and cooling your feet! There were great hikes, scenic drives, kayaking and places to eat within a 30min drive. Will 100% look into booking during the cooler temps to take advantage of that wood burning stove!

We wanted off the Grid and that's what we got, but how this place is setup, is amazing. We were expecting a lot less than what this place provided. Don't expect to come here having AC, Electricity etc. You are off the Grid, and that's what you should expect. Bring battery operated fans, bottled water and other things you might need. It has rain water for toilet and sinks, but we didn't really expect that being off the Grid. They do supply a couple of fans but that as well wasn't expected. It's an amazing place for sure and we'll be back. They threw in a lot of things that they didn't have to. I'd give a 10 star if I could. Refrigerator, stove and Grill wasn't expected but provided and was great. Great hiking trails. Maintenance person is fabulous and right down the road. They have a couple of lights that run off of battery but don't expect it to be running all the time, it's just a curiosity. Be grateful for what they do provide because again, you wanted to be off the Grid, expect that. Amazing, just Amazing. Thank you for letting us experience this.
