Insgesamt ist zu sagen, dass das Haus sehr hellhörig ist. Die Treppen und Gänge knarzten bei Benutzung. Vieles in dem Ha

Wir hatten für eine Woche im Juli eine Ferienwohnung für drei Personen in der Clayton Street gebucht. Bei der Buchung war nicht genau ersichtlich, wo sich diese Wohnung befindet. Das Beste zuerst: Die Lage mitten in der Innenstadt von Newcastle in einer belebten Gegend ist top. Central Station, Metro, Monument und Granger Market sind alle zu Fuß in kürzester Zeit zu erreichen.

Die Wohnung selber erreicht man, indem man an einer Hausecke, in dem sich ein indisches Restaurant befindet, in eine schmale, einspurige, schmutzige Gasse einbiegt. Nach 30 m erreicht man ein eisernes Tor zu einem schmutzigen Hinterhof; hier muss man den ersten Türcode eingeben. Auf diesem großen Hinterhof befinden sich zahlreiche große Müllcontainer und der Weg führt u.a. über ein nasses dreckiges Rinnsal, das seinen Ursprung in einem undichten Rohr in der Hauswand hat und auch nie trocken war. Weiter geht es in die erste Etage an der Rückseite der Häuserzeile über eine eiserne Außentreppe, die mit schwarzen schmutzigen Gummimatten belegt sind. Hier oben sieht man auch die in der Anzeige erwähnte „Terrasse“: eine Fläche, die mit grünem Kunstrasen belegt ist und auf der neben Dreck auch reichlich Scherben von Fensterscheiben rumlagen. Direkt daneben findet man eine Haustür, an der der 2. Code eingegeben werden musste. Im sehr verwinkelten Hausflur fanden wir dann in einem wieder per Code gesicherten Kästchen unseren Wohnungsschlüssel. Direkt hinter der Wohnungstür führen 3 Stufen in die von uns gebuchte Wohnung. Beim Parkettboden in Flur und Wohnküche handelt es sich um lose verlegtes Laminat, das bei Benutzung auch schon mal verrutscht. Die Einrichtung der Küche und des Wohnzimmers ist in die die Jahre gekommen. Der auf den Bildern an der Wand hängende Spiegel stand hinter dem Sofa, vielleicht um den Blick auf die Schmutzflecken zu lenken? Einen Esstisch mit Stühlen gab es nicht, dafür einen wackeligen Couchtisch. Der Inhalt der Küchenschränke war ein Sammelsurium und leider auch nicht sauber hinterlassen. Es gibt einen Fernseher, aber der ist nicht angeschlossen, weil es keine Antennensteckdose gibt. Per Wlan, das fast immer sehr langsam funktionierte, konnte man leider keine Filme streamen.
