Horrible! Be careful the house owner will threaten you via messages!
Nothing really. The host contacted me through my phone number instead of the Booking.com messaging system and told me that her rooms were fully booked. She asked me to cancel my reservation, but I explained that I would be charged a cancellation fee if I did.
After that, I didn't hear anything from her until the day after my scheduled check in date. I had to find another place to stay during my trip, and I wasn't even sure if I'll get a refund for this booking.
This host has absolutely no integrity. Even if your reservation is confirmed, there's no guarantee it will be honored. She may inform you the day before, or even on the day of check in, that there are no rooms available, leaving you to find accommodation at the last minute.
What a great host!
When I received Booking.com's email inviting me to leave a review, I did exactly that. I simply shared my genuine booking experience. Shortly afterward, I started receiving hostile messages from the host, who repeatedly threatened and intimidated me, demanding that I delete my review.
1. The host never officially informed me through the Booking.com platform that she could not accommodate my reservation. Instead, she contacted me privately through my personal phone number to say that the rooms were full.
2. When I contacted Booking.com customer service, they explained that because the host had not made any official statement on the platform, they could not intervene until my check in date had arrived and I was actually unable to check in. I could not possibly take that risk and travel there only to find myself without accommodation and have to look for another place at the last minute.
3. The host did not officially request to cancel the reservation through the platform until one day after my scheduled check in date, and only after I followed up with her by message. My payment had already been charged. I am still waiting for my refund and have not received it yet.
The host seems to believe that as long as I do not suffer a financial loss, I should not complain. What she fails to understand is that her careless handling of my reservation caused significant stress and inconvenience to my entire trip.
Even worse, she insists that she did nothing wrong and responded with threats and intimidation instead of taking responsibility. You can judge for yourself whether this is the kind of host you want to book with.
