Good location, poor accommodation

The location of the property was ideal for the weekend we had planned and, the house itself was situated in a very quiet, residential neighbourhood, which was great. There was diveway parking for the property which was also great.

I really can't see how anyone would agree with the description of the property as beautiful and cosy as, quite frankly, it was neither! We arrived when light was fading so, with no exterior light to assist, it was quite challenging to enter the door code to get in. Once we finally did cross the threshold, we foud that the hallway light wasn't working so, again, proved diffficult to get our bearings. Once we were inside and had started to settle ourselves, we were very disappointed with the standard or decor and furnishings. A lot were very old, very work and, in some cases, not fit for use at all. I have attached photos to highlight this. The biggest irritant however was, when we tried to turn the haeting on. There was a controller for this at the top of the stairs which, naturally, you would use to do this. After nearly 2 hours of no heating and, after sending a message to the property owner via the booking.com app, I called them. In their favour, they answerec very promptly and courteously but, to my further dismay, they informed me that this controller dodn't work and, I should use one that was next to the bolier in a cupboard!! Are occupants just supposed to guess at this??!!! In any case, when following the owners instructions for the control in the cupboard, the heating still wsan't coming on so, they said that they would need to get an engineer to come and look at it the next morning - absolutely fair enough. About an hour later, the heating did suddenly come on but, after a ciuple of hours enjoyng this, we were then unable ti turn it off again and, even turning the heat to the minimum, the house still felt very hot during the night, which made for slightly uncomfortable sleep. Again, to be fair to the owner, they did contact me the next mrning to make the arrangements to come in to look at the system however, after returning to the property at approx. 5:30pm after our day out, it seemed to be just in the same situation.

Over all we were pleased, just some attention to details could be better.
