Property Double Booked - Horrible Experience -

I booked this property through Booking.com and received both my reservation confirmation and payment receipt. On the day of our scheduled arrival, I contacted the property manager to inquire about the possibility of an early check-in. At that time, I was informed that they had no record of my reservation because the property had already been reserved by another family in May for the same seven-night stay. The property had been double-booked. When I asked why my reservation was the one being canceled instead of the other family's, the property manager, Village Realty, explained that the other guests had originally booked their seven-night stay back in May. As a result, I was the guest who would need to be relocated, despite having a confirmed reservation and receipt through Booking.com. Village Realty advised me that Booking.com instructed them to locate a comparable replacement property. Unfortunately, the alternative they offered was not comparable. Instead of the four-bedroom beach house I had reserved, they offered an outdated two-bedroom property that lacked many of the amenities we specifically selected, and it was too small to accommodate our family, as our original reservation included a bedroom with double bunk beds for the children. The entire experience caused significant stress and disruption to our vacation plans. Rather than honoring my confirmed reservation or providing a truly comparable accommodation, my reservation was ultimately canceled, and I was left to find alternative lodging on my own. The only other option presented was to book directly through Village Realty, but they had very limited inventory remaining despite my having secured and paid for my reservation well in advance. As a paying customer with a confirmed reservation, I expected Booking.com to ensure that my accommodations were honored or that an equivalent replacement would be provided.
