Too many rigid rules and extra charges, with very little flexibility or guest-friendly ser
The room was big enough.
Unfortunately, this was one of the most rigid and inflexible stays I have experienced in Saint-Tropez. I have been renting apartments in Saint-Tropez for many years, but I have never encountered this level of strictness and lack of flexibility.
The apartment was apparently ready before our arrival, yet we were required to wait until 4:00 pm for check-in. Check-out was required at 10:00 am, meaning that for a full day’s rate, you effectively lose a significant part of the day. I understand that these rules may have been stated in the conditions, although I did not notice them when booking, but there was absolutely no flexibility even when the apartment was available.
We were also expected to take out the rubbish and leave the apartment clean. Personally, I do not expect to spend my holiday cleaning, sweeping floors and taking out rubbish when I am already paying for accommodation and cleaning.
There were also several issues with the condition of the apartment upon arrival. There was hair inside the shower and on the shower walls. The lower part of one of the windows did not close properly. One of the kitchen chairs had a broken/loose back, and the bottom of the shower enclosure was damaged, causing water to leak onto the bathroom floor when showering. There were also various stains on the walls. I documented these issues with photographs immediately upon arrival.
Despite the condition of the apartment, a €500 security deposit was required. I was also asked to pay €50 simply to have somewhere to leave my luggage after check-out. Since I had a flight later in the day, I asked whether I could leave my luggage somewhere safely. In the end, I had to leave my suitcases in the common area of the building and collect them around 3 pm. I actually saw the cleaner entering the apartment at around 3 pm, which made it clear that the apartment had been empty until then.
