Dirty apartment, poor management, and locked out at midnight
The location is perfect near by the beach. The owner did come on the first day and brought the two missing towels and two new pillows, which we appreciated. The building’s security guard was also very kind and helpful when we had a serious problem getting back into the apartment.
Unfortunately, almost everything about the first day was extremely disappointing. The apartment was simply not ready for guests.
We arrived with my mother for the Rosh Hashanah holiday and immediately found serious cleanliness issues. The refrigerator had spoiled food inside and a very strong bad smell that affected the whole room. We waited more than three hours for a cleaner, and in the end my mother and I cleaned the refrigerator ourselves because we could not continue waiting before our holiday dinner.
The apartment had dust in the wardrobe and on different surfaces, hair around the bathroom sink, the toilet was not properly clean, the kettle was covered with heavy limescale, the toaster oven and its rack were extremely dirty and greasy, and kitchen items had to be washed again before we felt comfortable using them. We also cleaned and organized other parts of the apartment ourselves.
When the cleaner finally arrived, her attitude was unpleasant and she said she had only come to clean the refrigerator, which we had already cleaned ourselves.
We initially received only two towels instead of four, and the pillows were extremely flat. The owner later brought two additional towels and two new pillows, which we appreciated, but he was in a hurry to leave for his holiday dinner.
The worst incident happened later that night. When we returned from our Rosh Hashanah dinner, we discovered that we could not get back into the apartment. The key lockbox was extremely difficult to open. Earlier in the day the apartment door had simply been unlocked, so we had entered without using a key. That night the door was locked, and we were left outside around midnight with no reliable backup contact available.
The key lockbox itself was extremely difficult to open, and the combination number dials would not align properly, making it very difficult to enter the code correctly.
The security guard tried to help us several times.
