it was a huge disappointment. Uncomfortable, no privacy, and it felt (and proved to be) unsafe

It was clean

First of all: budget accommodation is perfectly fine with us. However, there are a number of minimum requirements you should be able to expect. Firstly, that things are clearly described in the listing, and that things aren't described to look better than they are. What is absolutely essential knowledge for future visitors is that the building is located on a pier that is PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE, and therefore: you might find people walking around your cabin. Children were playing in the rusty, run-down little building located directly next to the cabin (this building is not visible anywhere in the photos, but it is there. Check Google Earth for a satellite photo). Teenagers were coming to throw stones into the fjord and making out, runners running a short distance up the pier, motorboats docking to pick up and drop off people, etc. etc. But what topped it all: in the middle of the night, we were unpleasantly surprised by a thug-like aggressive figure who came to dump something (illegal?) in the fjord, right next to the cabin where we were sleeping. When we asked him what he was doing there, and told him that he woke us up, he started hurling insults at us and treating us aggressively. An extreme unpleasant experience, after which we could not sleep anymore. So, you are sleeping in a place where anyone can easily come, but also can peek inside, because: there weren't enough curtains!! Some cloths were hanging here and there on a string, supposed to serve as curtains, but they covered less than two-thirds of the windows. Additionally, the bed was extremely uncomfortable: the mattresses were made of very soft foam, less than 10 cm thick, and you could feel the bed slats sticking right through them. Furthermore, the outer mattress was too big for the bed and extended about 15 or 20 cm over the edge. The Wi-Fi was only usable in the toilet/bath/kitchen building—not 10 meters away as stated in the description, but 32 meters away.
