Extremely disappointing stay. Avoid this place.
The bed was comfortable.
UPDATE: As you can see, the host has responded to my review. I believe the tone of their response speaks for itself. Since they have called me a “lunatic” and a “weirdo,” and described me as “delusional,” I have decided to share our correspondence so that everyone can see for themselves that the host was aware that the electronic entry system at the property was not working, that they did not respond to my messages or calls during the night and only got back to me the following morning, that I was therefore unable to enter through the entrance, that the issue lasted for two days, and that they even brought a key in an attempt to resolve it. As you can see from the very first message, they specifically instructed me not to say that I had booked the accommodation through Booking.com, but instead to say that I was a personal guest. I can also provide video evidence of the noise inside the apartment to support what I wrote in my review. I am not a “lunatic,” a “weirdo,” or “delusional.” Contrary to what the host claims in their response, I never expected to stay for free. This is the first negative review I have ever posted on Booking.com.
I was unable to enter the building through the main entrance on two separate nights. The host acknowledged this in our WhatsApp correspondence. A key was brought the following day, but it was left inside the building, so I still could not enter. On both occasions, I had to climb over two fences, cross a construction site and make my way past rubbish bins to reach a door at the back of the building. I considered this unsafe and completely unacceptable. I provided Booking.com with screenshots of the WhatsApp messages. These messages document the access problems, the host’s acknowledgement of them and the fact that a key was brought. When I requested a refund, however, the host gave Booking.com an account of events that differed from our written correspondence.
In a WhatsApp message, the host even asked me to tell anyone in the building that I was a personal guest rather than a Booking.com guest. This raised serious questions for me about how the property was being operated as a short-term rental.
There was a loud, recurring mechanical buzzing noise in the apartment, sometimes returning at intervals of about a minute. It was accompanied by noticeable floor vibrations, making it extremely difficult to sleep. I recorded videos of the noise, and Booking.com refunded me the equivalent of one night’s accommodation after I submitted a video. This was difficult to reconcile with the host’s claim in our correspondence that the noise was not disruptive. I was woken by it every night. My complaints and request to end the stay were not addressed.
This has been by far my worst experience with Booking.com to date. I strongly advise against staying here. If the host responds to this review, readers should bear in mind that my account is based on WhatsApp messages and videos recorded during my stay, which I provided to Booking.com.
