A private riverside hideaway surrounded by nature, just 35 minutes from Porto. Swim in your infinity pool overlooking the Tâmega River, walk just 20 metres down to the water for a paddle, or simply slow down in the garden.
Recently renovated for comfort while preserving its original character, Nora's Getaway is a place to explore Northern Portugal from - and a place you may find surprisingly hard to leave.
The house sleeps up to 8 guests across 4 bedrooms and combines original character with bright, comfortable living spaces, a fully equipped kitchen and an upstairs suite with a bathtub overlooking the river.
Outside is where the property really comes alive: a private infinity pool, mature gardens, hammocks, outdoor dining and BBQ areas, and direct access to the river, with SUPs and kayak available for guests.
There is plenty of space to spend time together - and plenty of quiet corners when you want one to yourself.
The entire house and property are exclusively yours during your stay, nothing is shared with other guests.

Fantastic home and property. We had a fabulous time with the pool and river (kayak and paddle boards). The hosts were great. I would love to stay here again!

We had a great stay at Chao da Mo. The slope down to where the paddle boards and kayaks was too steep and long for the wheelchair user in our party but two of us had a good paddle around. It’s an easy drive into Porto for Museums and swimming in the Piscina Maritime also the Vineyards of the Douro Valley. A really great clean pool even though its pump is a little noisy. Overall a very relaxing break in beautiful countryside with a very interesting garden.

We arrived late at night due to flight delays which made for an interesting journey as this is rural - BUT the directions are excellent from the property link on VRBO. Even solid you can arrive in the day it would likely be better. Only when we awoke could we appreciate how wonderful the cottage and gardens are. The views are absolutely beautiful. To float about in the pool while listening to the birds and looking down the river will certainly fasttrack relaxation. A couple of minutes walk down the river you’ll find the paddle boards and kayaks and in just a few minutes you’re out on the water which was an easy area to paddle about or explore a little further afield. We are a family and our teens are 13 and 15.We had a couple of little issues but they were responded to in minutes. We called because of a problem with the gate and before we knew it, it was repaired. There were many excursions we could have done but we spent half of our time enjoying the site itself for a much needed break and in the evening playing cards and chatting. And of course making use of the pool, kayaks and SUPs. The excursions we chose were going inland to Piñhao for a scenic drive, a day trip to Porto (a must), a day at the Amarante water park and a trip to FC Porto.The cottage is one of the best equipped I’ve ever used: we had a bottle of Port and local cakes plus a big bottle of water waiting for us on arrival plus lots of essentials which reduced our shopping list. We stayed here for a week in September 2019. Our group consists of four adults.As agreed, Miquel was waiting for us at the meeting point some distance from the house and warmly welcomed us. Together we drove through the village and vineyards to the house. The drive down to the house was narrow and steep but as the week progressed we started to like it :-)We were fascinated for what we saw! The view over the river is amazing and the garden so beautiful with all the flowers, trees and fruits.The location gave us a peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the world. But if you miss life, shops and restaurants, you can quickly reach Marco de Canaveses, where you will find everything you need. There is also a train station with easy access to the other cities and villages in Douro Valley. We visited Peso da Régua, around 50 minutes away. The railway ran mostly on the Douro riverbank and it was most enjoyable to see the view from train.Our group enjoys cooking together and it was nice to enjoy candlelit dinners on the outdoor terrace while listening to the grasshoppers chirping. The only downside to this was that there is no oven in the kitchen. It would be a nice addition to the house and would make cooking easier. Other than that, the rest of the house met all our needs, even exceeding them. Everything was kept perfectly clean and tidy. The location is absolutely fabulous in rural area and by river Tâmega. The pool area is wonderful for relaxation and forgetting about everyday worries.Communication during out stay was efficient. If we had some questions, we got quick answers from Miguel.Thanks a lot Alexandre and Miquel! In the autumn rains and cold in Finland we will return to our memories of your lovely holiday home :-)
