Maison pleine de charme qui mérite un ménage de fond

Il y a beaucoup de choses à aimer ici. La piscine est grande et chauffée, le terrain est très grand, la maison est également très grande et pleine de charme et de personnalité. Tout ce dont vous avez besoin (vaisselle, électroménager) est probablement quelque part dans un des placards ou une des chambres. La literie était bonne, le linge de lit propre et confortable. Les propriétaires sont également très disponibles et cherchent réellement à s'assurer que votre séjour se passe bien et soit une expérience positive. C'est un cadre au calme, avec un potentiel énorme, en famille ou entre amis, à deux pas de Honfleur.

Il y a deux défauts majeurs à la maison. Le premier est le désordre et l'effet "bricolage" qu'elle renvoit. Les placards sont encombrés de bric-à-brac : il y a certes tout ce dont vous pouvez avoir besoin, mais ce n'est pas forcément très accueillant ni safe pour les plus jeunes. La salle à manger est décorée avec deux aspirateurs (dont nous reparlerons), des matériaux de construction non-utilisés sont éparpillés à droite à gauche, et l'impression générale est que la maison est surprise de vous voir arriver. Certains éléments comme le thermostat tiennent à peine au mur. Une pointe traverse visiblement le mur des toilettes du rez-de-chaussée, à hauteur de cheville pour les plus maladroits. Une partie du charme de la maison est certes son âge et tous ses petits recoins, mais le charme laisse parfois place à une certaine perplexité. Le second est la propreté. Nous avons sûrement manqué de chance en arrivant après des hôtes peu précautionneux, mais c'était franchement inadmissible. Cendrier plein près de la piscine, sable sur les canapés, sols franchement sales, déchets dans les recoins de la maisons (mentions spéciales aux ordures en train de pourrir dans la brouette du jardin et au sac McDo abandonné derrière le lit de la chambre du sous-sol) etc... C'est une très grande et très vieille maison : le nettoyage est nécessairement long et demande certainement beaucoup d'efforts. L'équipe d'entretien que nous avons croisée à la demande des propriétaires était certes compréhensible et navrée, mais le constat reste le même : la résidence n'était pas propre, même après leur second passage. Nous avons essayé d'utiliser les aspirateurs qui sont eux aussi dépassés par la situation et ont laissé le sol peut-être marginalement moins sale. La piscine et son deck mériteraient aussi un rafraîchissement mais c'est une inconvenance mineure comparée aux deux premières.

Disappointing stay in a poorly maintained property; we left after the first night.

Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing and did not reflect the standard advertised or the price of €600 per night. The property appeared neglected and suffered from significant maintenance issues that had clearly accumulated over time. Upon arrival, we found the house generally unclean, with dust, insects, used tissues and cotton swabs, cleaning equipment left in the rooms, piles of bed linen, blankets, and household items stored throughout the house, as well as leftover food and kitchen utensils in the cupboards. There was also a musty smell throughout the property, and the entrances and windows were overgrown, giving the entire estate an unkempt appearance. In addition, several maintenance defects affected our stay, including loose door handles, an electrical outlet in the bathroom that raised safety concerns, and numerous signs of deferred maintenance. Overall, the house felt worn, poorly maintained, and not properly prepared for arriving guests. The host offered to send a concierge team after we reported the issues. However, we did not feel it was reasonable to spend our family holiday in a property that first required extensive cleaning and repair work. In our opinion, these were not minor issues that could be resolved within a few hours but rather the result of long-term lack of upkeep. As a family travelling with three young children, we decided to leave the property after the first night because we did not feel comfortable staying there. Despite our efforts to resolve the matter amicably, the host refused any refund and referred to the non-refundable cancellation policy. We would therefore advise future guests to carefully consider booking multiple nights under a non-refundable policy, as leaving early due to unexpected issues may result in losing the full amount paid. In our experience, the price-performance ratio of this property does not match the premium nightly rate charged. We cannot recommend this property.
