And if it’s your delight as well, the municipality of Reitzenhain offers many opportunities to enjoy the charming low-mountain landscape for active recreation—on foot in the summer or on skis in the winter.
But even those who aren’t as keen on physical activity can find peace and relaxation here, enjoying nature and the attractions of the surrounding area.
It’s especially beautiful here during the Christmas season. It’s no coincidence that the Ore Mountains are known as “Germany’s Christmas Country.” Let yourself be enchanted by our villages during the Advent season. On a “light tour,” hundreds of string lights, candle arches, “Rachermanneln,” and nutcrackers will make not only children’s eyes light up.
Our village of 200 residents is situated at an elevation of 795 meters on the ridge of the Ore Mountains and can be reached via Federal Highway 174 from Chemnitz through the district seat of Marienberg. In the opposite direction, the border crossing leads to the Czech district of Chomutov. The Saxon state capital, Dresden (80 km), and the Czech capital, Prague (100 km), are thus within a little over an hour’s drive.
Via the extensive network of hiking trails, you can also climb Hirtstein (891 m above sea level), which is 4 km away. As a reward, a wonderful panoramic view of the Ore Mountains awaits. The basalt outcrop found on the mountain, with its horizontal and fan-shaped columns, is a geological rarity in Europe. The “Hirtsteinbaude” and other restaurants in Satzung invite you to linger.
Our 3 1/2-room vacation apartment can accommodate up to 4 or 5 people:
