About this house rental

Summary:

Four bedrooms, two bathrooms and space for eight, all on one level apart from a mezzanine lounge. Two king rooms and two twin rooms whose beds join into doubles, so couples, children and friends can all be settled the way you like. Days end in the six-person hot tub in the barn's own enclosed garden, around the fire pit, or by the log burner inside. The village pubs are a short way off, Marwell Zoo is 9 minutes by car and Winchester about 19.

The Space:

Bedroom 1: UK king-size bed.

Bedroom 2: UK king-size bed.

Bathrooms

Two bathrooms, with a full-size bath and a walk-in shower, plus shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hairdryer.

Kitchen and dining

A fully equipped kitchen with an oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee machine, a breakfast bar and a dining table that seats everyone.

Living spaces

The open-plan kitchen and living area has a log burner (logs and a fire guard provided) and a TV wall. A spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine, a second sitting room with a TV and a children's play corner.

Outside

An enclosed garden for the barn alone, with outdoor furniture, a barbecue, a fire pit and a six-person hot tub.

Everyday practicals

Wi-Fi, a spot to work on a laptop, underfloor heating in every room, a washing machine and tumble dryer, an iron, and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Travelling with children

A travel cot, a high chair, stair gates, children's books, toys and board games are all here. Please supervise children in the hot tub and on the spiral staircase.

Bringing your dog

Up to three dogs are welcome. A pet fee applies, and we ask that dogs stay off the furniture.

Good to know

The hot tub is emptied, cleaned and refilled after every booking to keep it hygienic and in line with health and safety guidance. Fresh water needs 6 to 8 hours to heat, so after a same-day changeover it may not be hot on your first evening. It's used until 10 pm out of respect for the neighbours, and as horses live in the next field, fireworks aren't permitted. Parties and events can't be hosted. The site has a single outdoor security camera, which points away from the hot tub.

Guest Access:

Your group has the whole barn and garden. Self check-in is between 4 pm and 9 pm, with a gate keypad and a key lockbox, and check-out is by 10 am. Three driveway parking bays are reserved for the barn, one with an EV charger (pay as you go by app).

The Neighborhood:

Durley is a peaceful countryside village with two pubs, the Robin Hood and the Farmer's Home, and footpaths for walking the dog. Families can be at Marwell Zoo in about 9 minutes by car and at Paultons Park in about 24. Bishop's Waltham's shops are 8 minutes away, the riverside village of Hamble 16, Winchester and its cathedral 19, and the New Forest about half an hour. Hedge End, nearby, has large supermarkets for stocking up.

Getting Around:

The M27 and M3 are both close. Southampton Airport is about 15 minutes by car, Eastleigh station about 14 and Southampton Central about 21, with fast trains to London Waterloo.

Other Things to Note:

ID check and deposit: after booking, the lead guest completes a short ID check and deposit step with our partner SafeGuest. You choose either a Damage Deposit of £350 (your card is saved and nothing is taken up front; it can only be charged for a claim SafeGuest approves after check-out) or SafeGuest's No Deposit fee of £40 (a one-off fee paid to SafeGuest). If you can't use the photo ID check, message us and we'll arrange a short video call instead. Please don't send ID documents by email. Your booking is on the Blue Puffin Stays Booking Terms (Guests) and the House Rules for this home.

Check-in closes at 9 pm, so please plan to arrive within the window. Stays of up to 30 nights can be booked.

Interaction with Guests:

Our local team looks after The Oaks Barn and answers your Vrbo messages every day from 8 am to 8 pm, with help on arrival until 9 pm. For a real emergency during your stay, call the number in your check-in details at any time. We're always glad to suggest pubs, walks and family days out around Durley.
