Unhygienic, and repelling stay! Choose wisely, and go somewhere else

Stay away from this place! It was an absolutely repulsive experience. Not only was the room disgusting, also the owner was uninterested, and completely unbothered. Entering the building, I was immediately overwhelmed by a smell of moisture and bug repellent. I tried to remove this by opening the window, but this did not help at all. Also, I noticed there were no towels, nor coffee available. After hours of trying to reach the owner, she responded to me that this was mentioned on the site (which is not true), but however, she wanted to show her good heart and bring me a towel for €8... I declined politely, since I had already taken care of a solution myself. The wifi code was not working either, and this was never solved.
Coming back from dinner, I was welcomed by a cockroach walking on the floor (see picture). This is completely unacceptable. Even though insects are normal in warm environments, I am 100% convinced that the lack of hygiene and moisture build-up are the cause of this. After contacting the owner about this, she simply said this was completely normal because of the heat (even though it had only started to be warm for 2 days, and the weeks before it was 15 degrees and raining!), and she made it seem like I was severely overreacting. This, in combination with the smell in the room / lack of amenities / ... , made me decide to leave the place and sleep in my car. In the morning, I drove back to Belgium, completely wrecked. I tried to receive a reimbursement/compensation from the owner, but again, the owner was completely negligent.
My stay in les Vans was completely ruined because of this experience. It is a shame really, because the little village looked so beautiful. On Saturday there is a beautiful big market as well, but unfortunately I did not have the chance to enjoy this.
