We enjoyed our stay at James cottage very much. The cottage was clean and well appointed. The kitchen was nice, with great appliances - the roomy refrigerator and freezer (!) were much appreciated. Having two bathrooms worked out well. The location, though on the main street, was very quiet, and being just around the corner from Booths grocery and the bus stands was perfect for taking the bus to hiking locations and other villages. Being so close to Derwent Water and shopping was wonderful!
I don't think we would improve on anything.

Well located for walking into and out of Keswick.
Pretty appearance. Spacious.
Lots of small issues which don’t warrant much complaint but its lack of attention for guests:
The kitchen hood lights were faulty, so were the bathroom mirror lights. So I guess small bulbs are hard to change but I like to see what I’m doing.
The upstairs toilet cistern seems intermittently to fill eternally and that was disturbing for us all at night. perhaps there was a method to avoid this when flushing? But it seemed faulty.
Beds were too soft for my large man size. Not very comfy. But that’s a personal thing.
It would have been useful to be warned prior that there was NO means to make fresh coffee. I would have brought my own if I had known that. I guess again some don’t care but in a town like Keswick, getting such things is nigh on impossible if you have no warning. I appreciate the kitchen can’t have it all but that seems like a missing thing.
