Mildly Unsafe and Poorly Maintained

The main selling point of this stay is the amazing location. However, the positives were scant after this. We can positively note the extensive decor put into the main room (of which most photographs are of), and the extra toiletries provided.

Picking up the keys was by way of a poor quality WhatsApp call, particularly difficult as the property had no signal. This was egregious as the booking and request for meeting time suggested they would be present. When we did get the keys, we found that across the stay the locks were so poor that getting in took over 5 minutes. The interior entrance hall reeked of petrol. When we got inside the property, things were little better. In the kitchen, the gas hob and oven had no supply of gas, the crockery was lightly dirty and many saucepans were dangerous due to the lack of an oven glove. Multiple pieces of cooking equipment one would expect was missing (for example a strainer/colander, or serving spoons). Moving to the dining room, 3 of the 4 chairs were dangerously unstable. In the bedroom/living room, we found a stain on the mattress, possibly blood, and dust on some surfaces. Additionally, the floorboards were coming up in places. The bathroom was larger than pictured on the website, but the shower was disgustingly grimy. Despite its amazing location, we cannot recommend the apartment due to its poor state. Particularly, I would be highly concerned for children's safety given the kitchen and unstable chairs. I would only be satisfied if we paid half what we did.

Shabby

Location

Filthy bathroom, old sofa, dirty and frosty fridge, Air conditioner didn’t cool and so noisy we couldn’t sleep. It vibrated so hard it sounded like it was going to take off. We contacted the owner/property manager to see if they might have a fan instead. They suggested we buy earplugs. Everything a bit grubby and unloved.

The apartment was really easy to locate. We came by train so we just had to walk. The check in - check out process went really smoothly and the host was super helpful! We enjoyed that the Mercato Centrale was so close by. Also, there is a big fridge in the apartment with a large freezer. We were able to freeze our water bottles to endure the summer heat.

Everything was nice!

Top location, comfortable bed and pillows, very spacious sunny apartment. The accommodation worked great as a central base.

Cleanliness was borderline acceptable, in specific areas, such as the kitchen and bathroom, could be improved. Mold on the shower door, food remains on kitchen counter, semi cleaned utensils. The whole building and the apartment had a noticeable old musky smell. Annoying smart lock not functioning 4 out of 5 times.
