Disappointing Experience – Poor Communication and Lack of Guest Service

Good location

Disappointing Experience – Poor Communication and Lack of Guest Service Our stay at 35 Menlyn Maine Residences was unfortunately disappointing, mainly due to poor communication, a lack of basic amenities, and inadequate guest support. Firstly, we received no clear check-in instructions from the owner regarding where to collect the keys, which building or floor the apartment was located on, where to park, or how to access the Wi-Fi. We arrived at approximately 1 pm and were told that we could only enter the apartment at 2 pm, which we accepted. However, upon entering, we discovered that the towels were still wet and spinning in the tumble dryer. Clearly, the apartment was not fully prepared for our arrival, despite us having to wait until the designated check-in time. We had a function to attend at 3 pm, making the situation particularly inconvenient. Reception refused to assist, explaining that because we had rented directly from the owner, they were not responsible, despite our reservation having been made through Booking.com. We made several unsuccessful attempts to contact the owner by telephone. Eventually, I sent a text message, and only about ten minutes later did we receive a response. There was no greeting, apology, or acknowledgement of the inconvenience caused. This lack of basic courtesy and customer service was particularly disappointing. Furthermore, there was no hairdryer available, forcing us to borrow one from family. Although tea and coffee were provided, there was no milk, another small but noticeable oversight. Finally, the apartment was noisy at night, with other occupants returning from their evenings out showing little consideration for guests trying to sleep. Overall, while the accommodation itself may be acceptable, the guest experience fell well below our expectations. Clear communication, a properly prepared apartment, basic amenities, and responsive, courteous service should be standard requirements for any short-term rental. We e

Location is superb. Shower was great. Parking bay is nice and close to nearest lift.

Never received welcome msg with wifi password - had to chase owner. Pillows should be thrown in the bin - far too thick and rock hard. I used my clothes as a pillow. Some of the cups were dirty. Floor mat was dirty with brown stains. The TV still has stickers and tape on it. The dustbin wasn't set up correctly and the lid just thrown in the cupboard. There were random tools and parts lying around in the cupboards. There's no ice tray in the freezer compartment and the freezer is frosted up.
