Overall Destin was great. I had to get overall the initial disappointment and enjoy my stay.

I like the staff at the front desk at Pelican Resort. They were very helpful given us instructions and explaining how booking through a third party works. The location was good. If I knew the area better, I would have stayed at Miramar beach at the boardwalk but overall, location was good. The beach was absolutely beautiful.

The email communication was misleading. An hour before we received the code and it said we were minutes away from entry. That was not true. The key does not really work until exactly 4pm. If we had stayed using the property management onsight, we could have got in our room earlier. We moved all luggage up to 18 floor to find out we could not get in. By this time, I was extremely mad and was calling the telephone number to get in the room rather than going back downstairs. Downstairs has nowhere to place our luggage so extremely inconvenient. It took forever to get through the telephone. My husband and I were both calling from two different phones. We finally got through and about 7 minutes before 4pm was let in our room. The room was not clean but at this point, I was not calling back. I ended up having to sweep, vacuum the floors and the furniture was filthy. We took the sheets they left on the couch and covered the furniture before we would sit on it. I should be compensated for the disappointment and time spent the first day and overall appearance/cleaning of the facility. Again, I was not calling back at that point. I was on vacation and it was time to start enjoying it. The facilities at Pelican stay should look at the hot tub and pools closing so early. They leave the smallest hot tub open till 10pm but only 5 people can fit. They closed the pool and hot tub everyday at 7pm, extremely too early on vacation.

Well-located and clean accommodation

They didn't offer breakfast; we had to buy it at the market.

I didn't like having to pay $80 to sit in two chairs in front of the Pelican. Even though I was a paying guest wearing the resort wristband, we weren't allowed to use the resort's chairs without paying; it was very awkward and embarrassing.
