DO NOT STAY HERE!
The location In Howick was nice.
The host tried to cancel our confirmed and pre-paid accomodation at 2am on the day of our arrival (we were flying up from the South Island). We struggled to get the check-in information after we insisted that we had no alternative accomodation (Auckland was booked out due to an international event). When we finally were allowed access we found the property to be really dirty (beds were OK) and the Coco, the host told us we were only allow to use 3 bedrooms. Our understanding from the property description was that we were booking the whole apartment as the Booking.com ad says "entire holiday home" . Once we arrived we were informed that the bedroom upstairs wasn't able to be accessed by us. This wasn't a problem as we has enough bedrooms for the 3 of us. She then asked if she could have other guests stay with us in the house (complete strangers). As we were under the assumption that we had the whole property (we would never have booked just a room in a house). We received multiple, rambling texts about how her daughter wanted to stay in the apartment. We were really uncomfortable with this and advised her we weren't OK with the situation. We subsequently discovered that there was already a young girl in the upstairs room! Coco then insisted on arriving at the property between 9 and 10pm and went upstairs and removed the external door handle from the upstairs bedroom. After this she went home and messaged us again around midnight and said she was cancelling the reservation and wanted us out right then (midnight!). We refused this as we had no where else to go and had a very distressed teenage daughter with us. Coco then returned to the apartment and had a the owner of the property on the phone to say that it was a shared property listing so they could have others staying. Needless to say we left the next morning as we were completely disturbed by the whole experience.
