Very disappointing stay
The swimming pool was the only positive aspect of our stay. Unfortunately, because of all the issues below particularly the undisclosed AC restriction I can only give this villa 3/10.
The furniture was very old, worn and torn, and the house did not appear to have been cleaned properly. The windows were extremely dirty and full of dust, while the bathrooms were filled with used toiletries. Overall, it felt more like someone’s personal holiday home that is occasionally rented out rather than a properly prepared rental property.
We requested a baby cot, but no proper bedsheets were provided. Instead, they simply put a pillowcase over the mattress. The outdoor furniture still had its plastic covers on, which also made the property feel unprepared and unwelcoming.
There was also an issue with parking. The owner had his own car parked in the garage, meaning that as two families with two cars, we had to park the second car on the road, which was uphill.
However, the biggest and most serious issue was the air conditioning. The listing stated that the house had air conditioning, which it did. What was not mentioned anywhere in the description was that the AC was controlled by a timer and automatically switched off every 2 hours!! This meant that every 2 hours throughout the night, we had to wake up to turn it back on!!We stayed during a heatwave, so sleeping without AC was simply impossible. We contacted the house owner and explained that we could not sleep under these conditions and asked whether the timers could be removed. His response was, “Sorry, there’s nothing we can do.” We explained that this restriction was not mentioned in the property description, but he simply brushed it aside and repeated that there was nothing he could do. We were 7 people, including 3 toddlers, so finding alternative accommodation at such short notice was practically impossible. We therefore had no choice but to stay. For the entire 2 night stay, nobody got a proper night's sleep. Imagine having to wake up every two hours during the night just to turn the AC back on! To make matters even worse, one of the AC units did not work at all on the first night.
