Extremely disappointing stay – would not recommend
Unfortunately, our experience at this property was awful from the moment we arrived.
After a six-hour drive, we arrived to find the property had not been properly cleaned and the beds appeared to have already been slept in, with unchanged bedding. We actually had to go out and purchase washing supplies and wash bedding ourselves before a cleaner did come and change the beds. One of the beds was also broken, meaning the mattress had to be moved onto the floor, and the blinds were damaged.
One of the biggest issues was the lack of reliable hot water throughout our stay. We were told the hot water operated at certain times, including 5–7am and 5–7pm, but even when we tried it at the specified times, the water was still cold. The boost control was also damaged, so we could not simply turn it on ourselves. We had booked this accommodation while attending a festival, and after being out all day in poor weather, being unable to come back and have a hot shower was completely unacceptable.
There was also a “Private and Confidential – Final Notice” attached to the property, which understandably made us extremely uncomfortable as guests who had no idea what it related to. We raised this with the property, but our concerns were essentially brushed aside.
We contacted the property every day trying to get these problems resolved and repeatedly received responses saying they were “contacting the host”, yet nothing was actually resolved. We made ourselves available for somebody to access the property and fix the issues while we were out, but the hot water problem remained.
At one point, we were told that if we left the property immediately we would receive a full refund. However, because we were staying for a festival, alternative accommodation was essentially unavailable at such short notice.
