Worst experience. Stay away.
The terrace has a lovely view. The location is a 10 minute drive to Funchal. The apartment is big.
Horrible sewage problems. We cannot even begin to describe how disgusting it was. They came to fix it, but it was not really fixed. The second bathroom was stuck. The tabs are all green. The toilet was not clean.... The hot water is not stable and the water holder has holes in both bathrooms. Gross experience 🤢 I have photos but can't show the smell.
The couple running this apartment started as a really sweet couple and when we talked to them they even offered to give us a refund if don't want to stay for the plumber, but eventually we decided to give the plumber a chance because we did not want to lose a day on searching and moving with 3 kids and all our stuff. After the plumber came they said to wait a day... The smell should go away. It did not. At the end we closed that bathroom and left the rest of the doors and windows open, and stayed but not very happily. We just did not want to lose time from the little time we got left in Madeira.
We left the apartment clean and spotless, of course and asked the hosts for compensation (they offered a two night refund before) and they completely ignored us.
Another thing was that the mattress was the worst mattress we have ever slept on. The minute we got on it, it created a deep hole which we sunk into. Like a 10 - 12 sa
ntimeters hole! Bad sleep the whole time. Our kids slept on the floor next to the bed.
3 of the night lamps were missing a light bulb.
We very much liked Madeira but this apartment was a huge damage to our experience.
We are actually thinking of asking booking.com to help us with getting some compensation. We feel so insulted that they did not even have the decency to at least answer us.
