The apartment was clean, roomy, and well appointed. Four large trash bins were provided to separate rubbish for ease of recycling. The washing machine/dryer combination was a great feature. There are a number of train and subway options within 10 to 20 minute walking distance. However, I would suggest that the owner provide some detail on which exits to take because there are lots of exits making a significant difference on how much you have to walk.
(1) A previous reviewer mentioned the two large glass panes in the bedroom wall allowing light from the emergency exit sign to shine into the bedroom unimpeded. This was supposed to have been fixed but it wasn't. It was difficult to sleep, even with a sleeping mask.
(2) We can hear footsteps and the occasional thump or bump from the people upstairs.
(3) The wifi was not very stable - I experienced loss of connection (for a short time) quite often.
(4) The bedroom has an unpleasant smell, probably from the mat. The apartment has a scent diffuser which I put in the room but it didn't help.
(5) The large closet space in the bedroom is unusable - it's filled with bedding and other stuff.
(6) Only place to put our luggage was on the furniture.
(7) On arrival, we took a taxi from Ikebukuro Station. The driver wasn't able to find the exact location and dropped us off round the corner. To be on the safe side on the day before we checked out, we communicated with the owner to help us book a taxi to go to Shinjuku Station where we can catch the Narita Express train. We hoped that the owner can give the exact location for the taxi. He responded by saying he'll see if it's possible. But he never got back to us after over an hour. Luckily we saw a taxi near the apartment and was able to book it. This is the first time in all my years of travels where an owner has not helped in this manner.

Huge, spacious, clean accommodation in a very quiet residential area. Fully equipped; the washer-dryer was a real lifesaver. Our second trip to Japan—this was our best accommodation so far.
Some doors are lower than others; after bumping our heads a few times, we got used to the fact that we needed to duck slightly. (This is likely an issue for anyone over 175 cm tall.)

The host was very responsive to questions. The host answered quickly and very helpfully, at times going above and beyond expectations.
The kitchen facilities were outstanding, with plenty of crockery and cutlery. There were sufficient pots and pans to cook with, and the gas stove was easy to operate. The washer-dryer was easy to use, and did a great job of washing AND drying (although like all condenser dryers, it took a fair bit of time).
The property was tastefully decorated in Japanese style, which was lovely to experience.
The location was good. The accommodation was located half way between two metro stations, but it took a bit of exploration to find the lifts for coming and going with luggage. There was a bus stop about 100 m away, where regular and frequent buses to Ikebukuro station stopped. Ikebukuro is a major rail hub, so from there we could go anywhere in Tokyo. There were plenty of eating places within easy reach.
Unfortunately, there are two large glass panes in the bedroom wall, which allowed light from the emergency exit sign and the street light outside to shine into the bedroom unimpeded. This made sleeping difficult. We hung some towels up to stop some of the light, and used eye masks. When we raised this as an issue with the host, they offered to hang some cloth to stop the light. However, we declined as we’d already hung the towels.
We have recommended that blinds or drapes be installed to create a permanent solution to this problem, so that future guests don’t experience the sleep problems that we did. Hopefully, this will happen!
