Unfriendly hosts and lack of security due to 3 open gates
pool
When we arrived, the coconut doormat in front of the covered entrance was soaked with water. After crossing over, water spilled onto the tiles and my wife fell. The host said he couldn't do anything about the rain. The cleaning staff could have removed the wet doormat, though. There were at least 30 mosquitoes in the house even though all the windows were closed. The cleaning staff must have left the doors open while cleaning. When asked about it, the host said, "We're on an island in the Caribbean, there are mosquitoes, it's best to close the door." We received two keys, one for the covered gate and one for the front door. To get to the pool area, you had to go through the kitchen door. The kitchen door couldn't be locked; it could only be locked from the inside. The street was approximately 15 meters from the kitchen door. There was no gate in between. See attached photos. So, if you were relaxing in the pool, you never knew for sure whether strangers might be entering the house from the street. You couldn't see that from the pool. We asked the host for a key for the kitchen door, the answer was: you have all the keys you need. We had the impression that the host (an agency) had never been to the house but only knew it from pictures. The pictures on booking.com don't show that there are a total of three open entrances to the property, none of which are secured. Anyone can access the pool area and the unsecured kitchen door at any time. This can be seen very clearly in the attached pictures. Furthermore, there are a total of 4 active video cameras on the property, but no indication that anyone is being monitored. One of the cameras was even mounted on a telegraph pole in the street. It was pointed towards the front terrace. One of the cameras pointed directly at the pool. Another camera pointed at the barbecue area. It was very uncomfortable for us to be constantly watched. It should also be said that the house was not very clean.
