Tulsi Kathmandu Hotel

Absolutely everything! Location, close to Thamel market, shops and restaurants, far enough from the city noise. Spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, great breakfast, friendly and accommodating staff. We stayed in spacious apartment and direct access to the patio was a bonus for morning coffee or jus to hang out with friends after busy day.

There wasn’t a thing not to like about this hotel.

We returned to Tulsi Kathmandu Hotel for a one-night stay, and the warm welcome we received made us feel as though the team had been waiting for our return! Even though it was a very short stay, the staff went above and beyond to make it memorable. Shiva and his team once again demonstrated exceptional hospitality. They thoughtfully arranged our drop-off, and several team members came out to see us off. Since we were leaving before breakfast hours, they wouldn’t even let us leave without having a cup of tea first! These thoughtful gestures truly reflect the warmth, care, and personal attention that make this hotel so special. Our second stay was just as memorable as the first. The genuine hospitality of Shiva and his entire team sets Tulsi Kathmandu Hotel apart. It is rare to find a place where the staff make you feel so genuinely welcomed and cared for. Thank you, Shiva and team, for making both our stays so special. We will always remember your warmth and hospitality and would happily return again. Highly recommended!

The breakfast spread was great and yummy, there were different foods for each day we stayed there. The manager gave us a free room upgrade to the room with a balcony, the hotel room and toilet was clean. The location of the hotel was great and it was value for money.

The manager and staff were very friendly and often mentioned that guests would be treated like "family" and that we could approach them whenever we needed help. However, our experience didn't quite match those expectations. We often found it difficult to get clear answers to simple questions, which became frustrating over time. For example, when we asked about the cost of upgrading to a larger room, the staff repeatedly assumed we were asking for a free upgrade and kept explaining that we had already been upgraded. It took several attempts before they finally provided the pricing information. Similarly, when we asked about the latest time we could check out without paying extra, the staff kept explaining that late checkout comes with a fee instead of simply answering the question. There were also some service issues during our stay. Housekeeping forgot to replenish our bath towels and toiletries, and although we informed the manager, the items were still not replaced. Our late checkout request also did not seem to be properly communicated between the day and night shift staff. Our booking included an airport transfer, but this turned out to be the hotel booking a ride through a ride-hailing app on our behalf. The first car that arrived was barely large enough for our luggage, leaving us with very little space to sit comfortably. The hotel only arranged another vehicle after we said we would book our own ride instead. Overall, the staff were warm and welcoming, but there was a noticeable gap between the level of service that was promised and what was actually delivered. Rather than repeatedly emphasising that guests are treated like family, I think more attention should be given to improving communication and service consistency.
