Beautiful house but completely neglected.
1 star — Beautiful house, completely neglected and poorly managed.
We booked this house for a three night family vacation, and unfortunately, I would not recommend this property and would absolutely not stay here again.
The house is beautiful in the photos, but the actual condition of the property was extremely disappointing. It is obvious that the home is not being properly maintained.
When we arrived, the pool was full of trash and we had to clean it before we could even use it. There were also foul-smelling bags of garbage left outside in the backyard. Some of the roofing had fallen off, which was another obvious sign that the property is not being kept up.
The bathrooms were by far the worst part. There was a disgusting, overwhelming urine smell that made the restroom smell like it had not been properly cleaned or maintained in years. The toilets also wobbled when you sat on them. This was especially unacceptable because the bathroom is something guests obviously have no choice but to use.
The kitchen was another issue. The pans provided were rusted and not usable for cooking, so we had to spend our own money purchasing cookware just to be able to prepare food during our stay.
Then, during our vacation, the City of Galveston began digging a huge hole that completely blocked access to the property’s driveway. I called the contact numbers provided by the property, expecting someone responsible for the home to help us navigate the situation. Unfortunately, the person who answered provided essentially no assistance. I was left to deal with the situation myself and had to work it out directly with the city worker. This took up a large portion of our last full day and caused us to miss reservations we had already made.
I understand that road work and city construction are outside of the property owner’s control. What is not outside of their control is how they communicate with their guests when something like this happens.
