Dishonest owner negates the good points of this place
The room was clean as well as the rest of the house, just a slightly untidy kitchen but we didn’t use it.
The owner is dishonest. I booked this room for my elderly dad as he was visiting me for a couple days.
The listing says check out is 11am but the cleaner knocked on my dad’s door at 10am and said they needed to clean the room and take the key back.
My dad is 72 years old. He felt bad, didn’t want to hold them up and gave the key back, took his luggage outside and ended up sitting locked outside the house on the steps, calling me multiple times to explain his situation. When I called the owner on her Australian phone number, things happened that I have never encountered on any other booking I’ve made in the 12 years I’ve been travelling that clearly showed a lack of integrity and honesty: pretending not to understand mandarin at first when she was clearly a mainland Chinese national, saying the reception is bad and she can’t hear me, and not wanting to take responsibility because she’s ’now in China’, saying the cleaners didn’t inform her about what’s happening so she doesn’t know - everything that a business owner should not do if they care at all about customer service. It wasn’t until I called her out on her lies and lack of professionalism that she miraculously could hear me clearly and agreed to sort things out with the cleaner.
But her next message was also a lie, because she said my dad was sitting in the living room couch and it was comfortable for him - and at this point I’d already arrived at the house where my dad was actually waiting for me at the roadside to get in the car.
The check in process was terrible, with step by step instructions that were really unclear and poorly written -eg ‘the first door you see is your room’ - but that turned out to be another guy’s room and we spent 5 minutes trying to unlock his room until the poor guy was jolted awake, came out to see what was going on, and helped us to figure out which room we were actually given.

Was a disaster.
Can't really say if we were unable to check in.
We were given instructions on where to find the key, but it wasn’t there. Eventually we learned that the cleaners had taken it. My employee was asked to wait, but after travelling all the way from Victoria, he gave up after half an hour and had to find accommodation elsewhere. Very disappointed that the owner didn’t offer a refund or at the very least an apology.
