Old Grey Mare

The location

Difficult to park

The pub itself is fabulous and very popular in the area. Selection of drinks available was great and the staff were very friendly. The food served was lovely. The room itself was brilliant, and the bed very comfortable. It’s an old building with lots of character (if you are on the tall side you just need to be mindful of the roof beams). We’d definitely stay here again. There was no room on the car park when we arrived, but there is an arrangement with the YHA 5 mins walk away so it was organised for us to park there. It was very easy.

The room was spacious and very comfortable. It was a 15 minute walk to the Cathedral with a bus route outside the pub if you wanted to use it. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We were very lucky to find a parking space in the small car park. Food was tasty but Thai or American style ordered at a take away style counter and brought to you table. Personal preference says would have preferred pub grub. Seating was tricky to grab.

Great location

The bedroom and bathroom were tiny and although it was advertised as having a desk this was squeezed in with no room for a chair. Comfy bed but noisy customers outside the pub were very loud until around 2am making it impossible to sleep.
