Hidden Gem

Loved the 3 bathrooms. Quietness in the country, we even saw wallabies, kookaburras and bush turkeys

Not at all like what is in photos - safety concerns

The beds themselves were comfortable, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, that small win is undone somewhat by the pillows. Overall, the property falls well short of what was advertised. More concerning than the inconvenience are the clear safety issues. As it stands, it feels less like a relaxing getaway and more like a liability waiting to happen.

The walkway from the visitors’ car park has broken steps and loose handrails. The front deck is visibly rotted and the railing doesn’t inspire confidence, one solid lean and you’d likely be making an unexpected entrance into the pond. The main deck off the dining and living area is much the same, so we kept the doors locked and avoided it. The steps down to the pool are broken, some completely collapsed. The pool itself was dirty and home to both live and deceased frogs, more wildlife sanctuary than swimming pool. In Queensland, being able to swim is part of the appeal, so this was disappointing. The pool light was hanging by a wire and the surrounding deck is also rotting away, which makes relaxing poolside difficult when you’re quietly planning an exit route. Two bedrooms had power points that didn’t work. The house wasn’t clean on arrival, bathrooms were dirty, kitchen benches sticky, and the oven had no racks, making baking more of a theoretical exercise. The stovetop didn’t have compatible cookware, and the toaster needed several attempts to produce even the faintest hint of colour. Unless the aim was pale toast and raw optimism, cooking was a challenge. For a house that sleeps ten, providing three wine glasses felt ambitious. The front door doesn’t secure properly and regularly pops open. The listing stated exclusive use of the property, yet on Sunday the owners and friends arrived to use the garage for table tennis, an amenity not for to guests. It was awkward watching people turn up to use facilities at the “private” property we had paid for. The pillows are old and flat, some missing pillowcases. We were given eight towels for ten guests, which required a level of scheduling not usually associated with holidays. There’s no TV in the main lounge, the designated TV room has only a small inflatable couch. No other TVs, no speakers, no hair dryer, no bedside lamps. Wi-Fi router is locked downstairs and barely works. All photos outdated and inaccurate.
