DO NOT STAY HERE BE WARNED - long read but please do
clean rooms quite new
You’re charged either a £250 deposit or £20 per night for “insurance”, yet the basics are completely impractical.
Keys are not on-site. You only really realise this on arrival (it may be buried in the small print), and then you’re expected to travel 13 minutes away to collect them, no lockbox, no code, nothing convenient. With luggage and a work colleague late at night, this turned into a 30-minute taxi round trip just to get into the apartment.
Checkout is even worse.
Instead of handing keys to on-site security, you’re told to return them to a Spar in Piccadilly Gardens — a pedestrian-heavy transport hub with restricted vehicle access. What should have been a quick stop turned into a 43-minute ordeal. The driver couldn’t get close, wanted to drop me with luggage, and I had to pay an extra £10 just to keep him waiting while I tried to find the place.
I messaged the host explaining I was likely to miss my train and suggested posting the keys, their solution was to lock the keys inside the apartment, but by that point I had already left, was a mile away, and minutes from departure, so that option was no longer usable.
Instead of offering a practical solution, they warned they would charge me (they were holding my £250 deposit). When I raised the additional costs I’d already incurred, they refused any responsibility.
I missed my train by 2 minutes, had to buy another ticket, and my colleague and I ended up travelling back separately.
Even if some of this is buried in the booking details, the system is completely impractical and badly thought through. It cost time, money, and unnecessary stress, and the response from the host made it worse.
Avoid unless you’re happy dealing with a logistical headache just to check in and out.
construction site next door wakes you first thing, terrible blinds that don't block the light at all, the building is situated down a road that is ina terrible state of repair off putting when arriving late at night in the dark.
