This was my second time staying at Banaras Rest House. I first stayed here during Maha Shivaratri about seven months ago, and I was happy to come back!
The location is great, right in the heart of the old city in Bangali Tola, just a short walk from the ghats. It's especially convenient if you want to catch the evening Ganga Aarti.
I stayed in a simple private room with a comfortable bed and my own bathroom. There's free wifi and also drinking water available to refill your bottle, which is always a plus.
I arrived before check-in time, but my room was already ready, so they let me check in early. They also kindly let me hang out at reception while waiting for my bus.
Overall, a nice, simple place to stay if you want to be close to everything. I'd definitely stay here again!
It can get a little noisy since it's right in the middle of the old city, and there's some construction going on in front of the place but that's not really something the guesthouse can control.

El personal es muy amable, super dispuestos y abiertos a ayudar en todo lo que necesitaba para mi estancia y en la ciudad. Está muy bien ubicado. La habitación single muy cómoda.

We did like the mattress and the location is easy walking distance to the Ghats.
We arrived in Varanasi by train and the hotel advised a Tuk Tuk would be 200 rupees but didn't inform us that a Tuk Tuk can't get closer than about a 10 minute walk away so if carrying luggage it's difficult. If we'd known this prior to booking we would have stayed elsewhere.
When we checked in there were no sheets or pillow cases for the bed. There was also no toilet paper. We were able to get all these items later.
Each floor has a separate WiFi router and we were on the 2nd floor and couldn't use that router so we had to connect to the 1st floor which wasn't reliable.
