The location is really nice, close to the center quite nice neighborhood

DO NOT stay here if you have asthma, allergies, or sensitivity to mould. We initially booked this accommodation for seven nights, but stayed there only 1. On the first evening, we noticed serious dampness and poor ventilation. As a result, there was extensive mould in the bathroom, with visible patches of different colours. It was difficult to breathe, and the level of contamination clearly showed that the mould had been present for a long time and had not been addressed before our check-in. In addition, the bathroom door handle was broken, and I was briefly stuck inside the bathroom. We contacted the host at 9:00 AM the next morning addressing the issues. However, we did not receive a proper reply until 13:24—more than four hours later and after the standard 11:00 AM check-out time. The only solution offered was to send a cleaning team the following day. This would have required us to stay another night in an apartment with significant mould and poor air quality, which was not acceptable given the health concerns that have clearly been stated to the host. (Sensitivity to chemical odors an mold) Because the proposed solution was not suitable, we requested a refund. In the end, we received a refund for only five of the seven nights originally booked. The host justified refunding only five nights by claiming that we moved out after the 11:00 AM check-out time and therefore could not prepare the mould-contaminated apartment for a guest that could have booked it the following day. The mould problem should never have existed in the first place, or at the very least should have been properly treated before guests were allowed to check in. The extent of the mould suggests that the host failed to inspect or maintain the property adequately. Based on our experience, the host does not appear to take guests’ health, safety, or well-being seriously.

Quiet, accessible ground floor apartment in Alfama, close to transport, shops and restaurants

It's a ground floor apartment -- no stairs -- in a quiet, but accessible street. It's recently renovated, clean, comprehensively equipped: full kitchen, including oven (no microwave); washing machine. Close to the Santa Clara flea markets, the Panteo Nacional and the Graca restaurants and shops. Both the Mont Moritz tram and train and Metro are walking distance, though being Lisbon, there is always a bit of a climb coming or going.

There is a single window opening onto the street, so ventilation and privacy need to be balanced with security. And it's a compact but tight floor plan -- as indicated in the details. There is cupboard storage above the bed, but no hanging space or room for a suitcase in the bedroom.
